Edith Sanchez Cruz serves as the Community Inclusion Director for the San Diego County Sheriff's Office. In this role, Edith bridges the gap between deputies and faith-based communities, youth, local community-based organizations, immigrant and refugee community members, social justice advocates, the LGBTQ+ community and persons with disabilities.

Prior to this role, Edith worked for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County (BBBS), which began back in 2008. She ascended to the role of Community Outreach Senior Manager having had the benefit of prior experience serving in several key programmatic roles within the agency including: Match Support Specialist, Recruitment and Enrollment Specialist and Program Manager of Community Initiatives and Engagement. Areas of focus included the recruitment of volunteer mentors, developing programs for diverse communities such as Chaldean refugee youth, Deaf/Hard of Hearing community, and Bigs with Badges (working with law enforcement agencies like the San Diego County Sheriff's Office). Building partnerships and being an ambassador/spokesperson for the organization for more than a decade supported the BBBS mission and increased brand awareness throughout the county.

Edith holds a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies from Cal State San Marcos and is currently pursuing her Master's in Public Administration with emphasis on Organizational Leadership from National University. Edith is a Gen 8 Fellow graduate of the San Diego RISE Leadership Program. Edith and her husband, Omar, and their two children, Alejandra and Efrain, are proud San Diego residents who share the passion for soccer and tennis, as well as giving back to their community.
