 MicrosoftTeams-image (21)Amy Brown-Lisk is a 27-year veteran of the San Diego Sheriff's Office. She was promoted to the rank of Commander in February 2022. Amy holds a bachelor's degree in Speech Communication from San Diego State University.

Born in Long Beach, California and raised in Newport Beach, California, Amy began her law enforcement career in April 1995 as a dispatcher. She transitioned to the law enforcement academy in 1997 and was assigned to the Las Colinas Detention Facility when she completed the academy. She was later assigned to the Vista Detention Facility (VDF) where she worked several positions including line staff, court holding, and she served as the Administrative Deputy.

In May of 2002, Amy was assigned to San Marcos Patrol. During her time in patrol, she became the first female training officer in patrol in the history of the San Marcos Station.

In August of 2005, Amy was selected to be a School Detective, she was responsible for San Marcos High School as well as San Elijo Middle School and San Marcos Middle School. During her time at the high school, she helped form a program called Knights Choices which was a program designed to deter youth from joining gangs.

In March of 2007, she was promoted to the rank of sergeant and assigned to the North Coastal Patrol Station, the Fallbrook substation, and the Division of Inspectional Services.

After being promoted to Lieutenant in March 2014, she was assigned to the North Coastal Patrol Station, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Unit, the Border Crime Suppression Team and Personnel. During this time, she helped develop a youth program called the Sheriff's Youth Advisory Group from funds from the Hearst Foundation. Youth from all ethnicities and financial backgrounds took part in events with Sheriff's Juvenile Detectives to bridge the gap between youth and law enforcement.  

In July of 2018, Amy was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned to the Office of the Sheriff as the Sheriff's Special Assistant. In October 2019, she was assigned to the Communications Center and oversaw 125 dispatchers, 15 supervisors and 3 Communication Coordinators. She also oversaw the Property and Evidence unit.  In March 2021, she was assigned to the Human Resources Bureau to oversee the Regional Academy, the Weapons Training Unit and the Medical Liaison Unit. In August 2021, Amy was chosen to be the captain of the San Marcos Station and remained there until she was promoted to Commander.

Amy is a graduate of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute as well as the 276th session of the FBI National Academy.
