About CBD and THC
Cannabidiol (CBD) is an oil derived from the cannabis plant. A key difference between CBD and THC is that THC can produce a psychoactive “high” effect at high doses, whereas CBD doesn’t.
People are consuming it under the misapprehension that it is safe, however, CBD has negative side effects and may interfere with the functioning of other medications and may be contaminated.
Hemp is defined as cannabis and its derivatives with extremely low (less than 0.3% a dry weight basis) concentration of the THC. These changes removed hemp from the federal Controlled Substances Act, which means that it will no longer be an illegal substance under federal law.
Health-Related Impacts with THC Products
Consuming high levels of THC can cause severe health effects, especially in children and teens.
Potential effects include confusion, dizziness, paranoia, hallucinations, nausea, and even hospital visits in severe cases.
THC consumption in minors can have long-term effects on brain development.
In order to make claims of treatment or medical use, products must obtain approval from the FDA.
