San Diego County CCW Current Vendors revised 8-6-24

Thank you for your interest in becoming a CCW Vendor for the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

Requirements for each instructor:

• Completed application (Vendor only. Additional instructor names to be listed on the application)
• Driver's License
• CCW Program DOJ Instructor Certification (Penal Code 26165 (a)(4))
  • Exemption for active or honorably retired peace officers who are certified as a Firearms Instructor by California POST:
    • Documentation of peace officer status
    • POST Firearms Instructor Certification
    • Certificate of Eligibility issued by the California Department of Justice
• Signed Expectations Form
• 16-hour Initial Course curriculum and exam
• 8-hour Renewal Course curriculum and exam
• 16-hours of continued education (renewing instructors only)

Important dates:

• Applications and curriculums will be accepted now through October 18, 2024. No late submissions will be accepted.
• CCW Program DOJ Instructor Certifications will be accepted through December 31, 2024, so long as the above deadline was met. No late submissions will be accepted.

Each applicant and course curriculum will be individually reviewed by the Weapons Training Unit for approval. Instructors meeting the requirements will be placed on the approved list, which will be valid for the 2025-2026 term. Additions to the list will not be considered until the next reviewing period once the deadline period has passed. If your certification is not received by this office by the deadline, you will not be approved for the list.
