Chris Galve began his career in 2001, as a cadet in the 1st Detentions and Court Services Academy. After graduating the academy he was assigned to the San Diego Central Jail. Lt. Galve worked at the San Diego Central Jail for about 3.5 years before attending the Sheriff's Law Enforcement Academy. After graduating the law enforcement academy, Lt. Galve was assigned to the Sheriff's North Coastal Station serving the cities of Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar and surrounding unincorporated communities.
In 2007, Lt. Galve was assigned to the Sheriff's SWAT team where he responded to critical incidents throughout the entire county of San Diego. In 2009, Lt. Galve was assigned as a narcotics detective with the Sheriff's Border Crime Suppression Team with a focus on cross border narcotics smuggling. In 2012, Lt. Galve was assigned as a narcotics detective to the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) task force.
In 2014, Lt. Galve was promoted to the rank of Sheriff's Sergeant and was assigned to the Court Services Bureau. He later transferred to the Santee Patrol Station and served as a patrol sergeant. Lt. Galve worked at the Santee Patrol Station for about a year and a half before transferring to the Alpine Station to work as the detective Sergeant. In 2017, Lt. Galve was transferred back to the HIDTA task force as a narcotics detective Sergeant.
Lieutenant Galve was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2021 and assigned as the Watch commander to the Sheriff's Communications Center. After about 6 months, Lt. Galve was transferred back to the SWAT team where he served as the SWAT Commander. In 2022, Lt. Galve was transferred back to the Santee Patrol Station as a station Lieutenant.
Lt. Galve is currently assigned to the Office of the Sheriff where he works as a Special Assistant to Sheriff Martinez. Lt. Galve's duties include acting as the department's tribal liaison and working directly with the County Administrator's Office for constituent services. Lt. Galve has a collateral in Media Relations.
Chris was raised in San Diego and is the first and only law enforcement member in his family. Chris knew he wanted to work in law enforcement at a young age and feels extremely lucky to have the opportunity to work for the Sheriff's Department.
