Heidi Williams was appointed as a Legal Advisor to Sheriff Kelly A. Martinez in 2023. She is responsible for providing legal advice to the Detention Services, Court Services, and Management Services Bureaus.
Prior to joining the Sheriff's Office, Heidi worked as a civil litigation trial attorney in the public and private sector. Most recently, she served as a Deputy County Counsel for a large California county where she was primarily assigned to defend civil cases filed against that Sheriff's Department and its employees in state and federal courts.
Heidi earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Florida. She also earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Richmond School of Law and was inducted as a member of the National Order of the Barristers.
Heidi is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and in all courts of the State of California.
