Josette Ford, Senior Policy Advisor & Strategic PlannerJosette Ford was appointed to serve as the Sheriff's Senior Policy Advisor in 2015. She acts as the steward of the department's strategic plan and assists in the development of both short-term and long-term milestone and goals that are aligned to the department’s mission and vision.  She works with leadership to define strategic priorities and to develop a strategic plan that brings clarity to department goals.

Josette began her law enforcement career in 2005 with the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office as an Intelligence Specialist tasked to the San Francisco Joint Terrorism Task Force. She joined the San Diego Sheriff's Department in 2007 as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst and was assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Detail and the San Diego Law Enforcement Coordination Center (SD-LECC). Josette distinguished herself as a top analyst working on some of the most complicated and sensitive investigations and projects.  She was a leader in integrating the crime and intelligence analysis functions both in the Sheriff's Department and regionally.  As the lead analyst at the SD-LECC, Josette was involved in all aspects of the operation including intelligence production, statistical reporting, budget alignment, and performance measurement reporting to the funding agencies. She also served as the chief editor for the intelligence products produced at the SD-LECC and was responsible for onboarding and training staff.

In 2013, Josette was promoted to Crime Analysis Unit Manager and created the new analyst classifications to align with the department's Information Led Policing (ILP) approach.  She was the first Crime and Intelligence Analysis Manager to supervise the analysis group comprised of 33 analysts, and led the way in furthering the Department's ILP strategies.   

Josette earned her Bachelors of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and her Master of Public Policy from UCLA.  Josette enjoys teaching and was a University of Phoenix Associate Faculty member and is a California POST certified instructor.  She is passionate about bringing relevance and insights to the organization and has completed executive education programs to include the Accelerated Management Program from Yale School of Management and Change Management Certificate program from Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. Josette loves raising her two kids in America's finest city.
