In 2021, Nadia Moshirian Binderup was appointed to serve as Special Assistant, Intergovernmental Affairs Director to the Sheriff. In this role Nadia serves as a liaison for federal, state, and local legislative matters. She reviews legislation which can impact public safety and the San Diego County Sheriff's Office and advises the Sheriff on advocacy efforts.
Prior to serving as Special Assistant, Nadia served as the Sheriff's Office Community Inclusion Director where she engaged with the community for more meaningful and intentional dialogue in order to provide profound outreach and keener understanding of equity and cultural needs. As the Community Inclusion Director she helped bridge the gap between deputies and faith-based communities, youth, local community-based organizations, immigrant and refugee community members, social justice advocates, the LGBTQ+ community, and persons with disabilities.
Nadia began her career with the County of San Diego in 2019 as an intern for a former Board of Supervisors office which resulted in full-time position as a Policy Advisor. Nadia later joined the County's Office of Strategy and Intergovernmental Affairs as a Legislative Policy Advisor where she advocated on behalf of the County on a wide-range of policy and legislative issues. Prior to joining the Sheriff's Office, Nadia served as a Chief Administrative Office (CAO) Staff Officer for the County of San Diego.
Nadia holds both a Master's and Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University and is a Public Administration Honor Society Inductee - Pi Alpha Alpha. Nadia also holds a California Credentialed County Senior Executive Certification from the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Institute for Excellence in County Government, and is a graduate of the CSAC Institute Fellows Program.
