Gloria Soto-Meza is a Commander with the San Diego County Sheriff's Office and is assigned to the Detention Services Bureau overseeing Operations.
Her public service began in 1999 when she joined the San Diego County Sheriff's Office and graduated from the 36th Corrections Academy. She began her career at George Bailey Detention Facility, where she spent time as a deputy, training officer/corporal and facility training coordinator. In 2005, she was assigned to the Detention In-Service Training Unit as a training officer/corporal.
In 2008, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to the San Diego Central Jail. In 2010 she was transferred to the Las Colinas Detention Facility where she spent the next two years as a team sergeant. In 2012 she was selected for the Inmate Services Division Sergeant position. In 2016, Gloria returned to the George Bailey Detention Facility as a team sergeant and later transferred to the South Bay Detention Facility.
In 2018, she was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to the new Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility. Gloria went on to be assigned as the Administrative Lieutenant at the George Bailey Detention Facility and later the Detention In-Service Training Unit Lieutenant.
In 2022, she was promoted to the rank of Captain. As a Captain Gloria was assigned to the George Bailey Detention Facility and Detention Services Support. She began her current assignment as Commander in March 2024.
Gloria is married, has two adult sons, and is a proud grandparent.
